Friday - Revise Research Question

My proposed thesis focuses on both the application of leadership and educational technology as the means by which higher education institutions can bridge the gap between vocational trades and applied technical education throughout the province of British Columbia. Applying educational technology as the means for bridging the gap between vocational trades and applied technical education involves facilitating “learning and improving performance by creating, using, and managing appropriate technological processes and resources” (Januszeski & Molenda, 2008 p. 1).

The literature to be used in this research will be broad in scope, to include both educational technology and a proactive leadership approach to higher education changes in British Columbia.

The literature review will examine the following six core topics: (1) educational technology; (2) history of vocational trades and applied technical education in British Columbia; (3) financial considerations; (4) access to vocational trades and applied technical education; (5) legitimacy of vocational trades and technical education; and (6) recognition of vocational trades and applied technical education. The literature review will provide the basis for an analysis of the factors influencing continuity, recognition and connectivity between vocational trades and applied technical education.
